President Prabowo Subianto Friday (12/06) at the State Palace, Jakarta, hosted a luncheon with the delegations of the Japan Indonesia Association (JAPINDA) and the Japan Jakarta Club (JJC).
The event served as a momentum to strengthen relations between Indonesia and Japan, while also showcasing the richness of Indonesian culture.
“It is a great honor for me to welcome you to the State Palace in Indonesia,” said the President in his opening remarks.
In a warm and friendly atmosphere, the Head of State said that Japan is a long-standing partner of Indonesia, adding that both the Japanese government and private sectors have been active in supporting Indonesia’s economic and human resource development in a number of fields.
“Therefore, we welcome Japanese investors and Japanese corporations greatly. We hope that you will also become more interested in participating in our development,” he added.
During the luncheon, the Japanese delegates were served with special dishes that showed the diversity of flavors from every corner of Indonesia. Among the dishes were rice seasoned with lime leaves, combined with mushroom asparagus, Indonesian grilled chicken, basil beef, and red and white shrimps.
The delegates were also entertained with musical performances consisting of a musical performance that combined piano with traditional musical instrument from East Nusa Tenggara called Sasando (a stringed musical instrument) and instrumental performances featuring songs from both countries, such as Indonesian regional songs and Japanese popular songs.
This event served as an important momentum to show Indonesia’s commitment to building strong international relations through a cultural approach. Amidst various global challenges, such activities serve as a reminder of the importance of culture-based diplomacy. (BPMI of the Presidential Secretariat/DNS) (TM/EP)
