President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo inspects the establishment of the industrial area of PT Lotte Chemical Indonesia (LCI), Cilegon city, Banten province, Tuesday (09/12). In his statement, President Jokowi mentioned that the establishment’s progress of the petrochemical industry has reached 73 percent and it is planned to be completed in 2025.
“The project has been started since 2020 and will be completed in 2025. The progress has been great, it has reached 73 percent, and it involves a huge investment approximately amounting to Rp60 trillion, USD3.9 billion, Rp60 trillion,” President Jokowi said.
The Head of State explained that after the establishment, the factory will produce a lot of products that will be used for import substitution and export.
“After it is completed, the factory will produce ethylene, polypropylene, benzene, and other 17 products. The good news is that it will also serve as import substitution, 70 percent for local use, and 30 percent for export,” the President further explained.
“Both are good, because the products for local use will substitute petrochemical products that we usually imported. Both are good, I think these industries are just what we need,” he added.
During the inspection, President Jokowi observed the establishment areas, such as production area, finished products storage tanks, as well as supporting facilities, such the dock.
Accompanying President Jokowi during the inspection were, among others, Minister of Investment/Head of Investment Coordinating Board Bahlil Lahadalia, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Indonesia Lee Sang-Deok, Acting Governor of Banten Al Muktabar, Mayor of Cilegon Helldy Agustian, and President Director of PT Lotte Chemical Indonesia Yim Dong Hee.
