President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Friday (08/25) arrived in Indonesia following a series of working visits to several countries in the African continent.
The President and his entourage landed at Kualanamu International Airport in Deli Serdang regency, North Sumatra province at around 05.30 Western Indonesian time after taking off from O. R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg, the Republic of South Africa on Thursday (08/24) at 14.35 local time.
Upon arrival, the President was welcomed by Governor of North Sumatra Edy Rahmayadi, Commander of Bukit Barisan Military Region Mayor General Achmad Daniel Chardin, and Chief of North Sumatra Regional Police Inspector General Agung Setya Imam.
During his trip to Africa, President Jokowi attended the 15th BRICS Summit in the Republic of South Africa, had meetings with several leaders of countries he visited, namely the Republic of Kenya, the United Republic of Tanzania, and Republic of Mozambique.
In North Sumatra province, President Jokowi is slated to visit Binjai city to distribute social assistance to local merchants.
Thereafter, the President is set to inaugurate Mebidang (Medan-Binjai-Deli Serdang) regional drinking water supply system (SPAM) and Aek Tano Ponggol Bridge.
Joining the President during his flight from Africa were Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, and Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung. (BPMI SETPRES/UN) (DH/LW)
