President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Friday (07/28) affirmed Indonesia’s commitment to developing chemical and energy industries.
“Indonesia is committed to developing chemical and energy industries in Indonesia, especially in North Kalimantan,” President Jokowi said during a meeting with leaders of Chinese companies at Shangri-La Hotel, Chengdu, People’s Republic of China (PRC).
President Jokowi further said that the Indonesian Government has issued regulations on national industrial policies to achieve a green economy. “(The regulation) contains development targets as well as the utilization, supply, and distribution of oil and gas and coal-based chemicals,” he added.
In addition, the President appreciated the investment made by Chinese companies in developing industrial estates in Indonesia, including in the construction of a petrochemical refinery in Kalimantan.
The Head of State also expressed hope that the attendees would play a role in chemical industry development in Indonesia.
